      The Beer

Almost every lager you have drunk was filtered and pasteurised before it reached you — processes that buy shelf life at the cost of flavour and texture. NOAM, founded in Munich in 2016, skips both. What you get is a Helles as it would be served in the brewery tap: faintly hazy, fuller in the mouth, with a soft bready malt character that filtration strips out. Brewed to the Bavarian Purity Law from regional barley malt, Bavarian water and yeast, and hopped with two Hallertau aroma varieties — Hallertauer Tradition and Hallertauer Smaragd — for a gentle herbal, floral lift rather than bitterness. No preservatives. A case of 24 × 340ml bottles.

      Questions

How many bottles are in the case?

      Twenty-four 340ml bottles — 8.16 litres in total.

      What does unfiltered mean?

The yeast and proteins are left in rather than stripped out. It makes the beer slightly hazy and gives it a fuller, softer texture and more malt character than a filtered lager.

      Why does unpasteurised matter?

Pasteurisation heats beer to extend its shelf life, which dulls the flavour. NOAM is not heat-treated, so it tastes closer to draught — but keep it cold and drink it fresh rather than storing it warm for months.

      What is the Reinheitsgebot?

The Bavarian Purity Law, dating from 1516. It restricts beer to water, barley, hops and yeast — nothing else.
