Les Forts de Latour Pauillac 2019 75cl is the powerful second wine of legendary First Growth Château Latour, sourced primarily from dedicated plots outside the historic L’Enclos vineyard, including vines adjacent to Château Haut-Batailley. The 2019 vintage is a classic Pauillac blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, vinified with the same precision as the Grand Vin and aged in 70% new French oak barrels. Certified organic since 2018, this release reflects the estate’s commitment to sustainable viticulture. Deep garnet in colour, it opens with exquisite aromas of lavender, cigar ash, Spanish cedar, dried citrus, graphite, and blue/purplish fruit. The palate is medium to full-bodied with ultrafine, linear tannins, concentrated cassis, blackberry, mocha, sage, and a muscular yet harmonious structure, leading to a substantial, long, and beautiful finish. James Suckling awarded it 97 points, calling it “a jewel of a wine” with “tons of richness and structure.” Drink 2026–2040+ for peak enjoyment. Pairs superbly with robust dishes—grilled beef, lamb, venison, or mature hard cheddar. A serious, age-worthy Pauillac second wine of exceptional pedigree.
