Haut Roc Blanquant 2014 — supple, red-fruited Saint-Émilion from the Bélair-Monange family, now at ten years’ maturity.
Haut Roc Blanquant comes from the vineyards of Château Bélair-Monange, the Saint-Émilion estate of the Moueix family — the house behind some of the Right Bank’s most storied names. It is the estate’s accessible bottling, made in the same limestone-and-clay terroir with a Merlot and Cabernet Franc blend.
The 2014 is now fully into its drinking window: medium-bodied and supple, with juicy red fruit — strawberry and raspberry — lifted by violets, then spice and earth adding the depth of age. The tannins are smooth and well integrated, and the finish is harmonious. A mature, elegant Saint-Émilion at a gentle price for its pedigree.
Serve with: grilled chicken or salmon, roasted vegetables with herbs, light tomato-based pasta, charcuterie, or semi-firm cheeses.
