Château Fuissé “Le Clos” 2021 — lemon, acacia and white peach from a walled vineyard in the Mâconnais.
Château Fuissé has been a leading name in Mâconnais Chardonnay for over 150 years, and Le Clos is its calling card — a Premier Cru from a specific walled vineyard, the sort of enclosed site Burgundy has always prized for the concentration it delivers.
The 2021 is Chardonnay aged in oak barrels, and the balance is the point. Vibrant citrus — lemon and grapefruit — sits against acacia and honeysuckle, then opens into white peach, almond and a stony minerality. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and complex, with the oak framing the fruit rather than dominating it, and a long, persistent finish.
Serve with: grilled fish, shellfish, creamy pasta, poultry, or a cheeseboard with fresh goat’s cheese and Gruyère.

A clos is a walled vineyard. The enclosure marks out a distinct site, and in Burgundy those boundaries often trace centuries of observation about which ground makes the best wine.
In the Mâconnais, the southern end of Burgundy — the region’s most celebrated appellation for Chardonnay outside the Côte de Beaune.
10–12°C. Too cold and the stone fruit and almond notes stay closed.
