Bond St. Eden 2018 — a single-vineyard Napa Cabernet of real depth: dark cherry, espresso and finely grained tannin.
Bond is a Napa Valley project built on a Bordelais idea: that individual hillside sites, farmed and vinified separately, express something a blend cannot. St. Eden is one of those designated vineyards, bottled under its own name, and made with the same ambition that drives the great First Growth châteaux.
The 2018 is pure Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 20 to 24 months in French oak barrels. It opens with an intense burst of dark cherry, blackcurrant and plum, then moves through dark chocolate, espresso and savoury spice. Full-bodied and opulent in texture, held together by finely grained tannins and a persistent, sophisticated finish.
Serve with: roast leg of lamb, grilled rib-eye, braised short ribs, mushroom ragù with pappardelle, robust cheeses or charcuterie.
