      The Wine

Bond is a Napa Valley project built on a Bordelais idea: that individual hillside sites, farmed and vinified separately, express something a blend cannot. St. Eden is one of those designated vineyards, bottled under its own name, and made with the same ambition that drives the great First Growth châteaux.

The 2018 is pure Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 20 to 24 months in French oak barrels. It opens with an intense burst of dark cherry, blackcurrant and plum, then moves through dark chocolate, espresso and savoury spice. Full-bodied and opulent in texture, held together by finely grained tannins and a persistent, sophisticated finish.

      Questions

What makes Bond different from other Napa Cabernet?

Each wine comes from a single designated hillside vineyard rather than a blend of sites, so every bottling expresses one specific piece of ground.

      Drink now or cellar?

Approachable now with a long decant, and structured to develop for many years.

How long should I decant it?

Two hours or so. A young Napa Cabernet of this concentration benefits considerably from air.
