Nyetimber 1086 Prestige Cuvée 2013 in magnum — brioche, apricot and roasted nuts. England’s answer to prestige cuvée, doubled.
Nyetimber was established in West Sussex in 1988 and was the first English producer to plant the classic sparkling varieties — Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier — and make wine by the traditional method. It effectively created the modern English sparkling category. 1086 is its prestige cuvée, the top of the range, made only in the finest years.
The 2013 blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, aged on the lees for several years before release. That extended time is what you taste: lemon and grapefruit lead, then apricot, brioche and roasted nuts follow, all carried on a creamy, fine-beaded mousse. Bright acidity keeps it precise through a long, elegant finish. In magnum it develops more slowly and shows even better.
Serve with: oysters and seafood, roast poultry, or creamy cheeses — or on its own as a celebration pour.

No — it is English Sparkling Wine from West Sussex. It uses the same grape varieties and the same traditional method, but only wine from the Champagne appellation may be called Champagne.
8–10°C. A prestige cuvée shows more served slightly warmer than a simple fizz, and a tulip glass beats a narrow flute.
