Portofino Dry Gin — 21 botanicals from the Italian Riviera, distilled in an antique copper pot still.
Portofino Dry Gin is made in Liguria, on the stretch of coast that gives it its name, and it tastes like it. Twenty-one botanicals go into the bottle — juniper, lemons, lavender, rosemary, marjoram, sage, iris and rose among them — many of them organically grown and handpicked locally rather than shipped in.
Distillation happens in an antique copper pot still using vacuum techniques, which keeps the delicate herbal aromatics intact rather than cooking them off. There are no added sugars and no artificial flavours: what you get is the Ligurian hillside, in a glass.
Serve with: a good Mediterranean tonic and a twist of lemon, or neat over ice. It also makes an unusually fragrant Martini.

Juniper is clearly there, but it shares the stage with the Ligurian herbs. If you want a herbaceous, Mediterranean style rather than a stark London Dry, this is it.
A light Mediterranean or Indian tonic. Avoid heavily flavoured tonics — they bury the rosemary and lavender.
