Procera is one of Africa’s most celebrated craft distilleries, and Red Dot is its most purposeful bottling: a gin designed from the outset for the Negroni. That is a harder brief than it sounds — a gin has to have real weight to hold its own against Campari and sweet vermouth.
This one does. It is bold and assertive, layered with chilli heat, black pepper, vanilla warmth and orange peel, built for depth and cocktail power rather than for sipping delicacy. The 2023 vintage carries that intent through clearly. Worth far more than the one drink it was made for.
Serve with: Campari and sweet vermouth, in the Negroni it was built for. It also stands up in a Martinez or a bold G&T with orange.

Weight and assertiveness. In a Negroni the gin competes with Campari and sweet vermouth, so a delicate floral gin disappears. This one is deliberately bold enough to hold its shape.
You can, though it is designed for mixing. The chilli and pepper are considerably more comfortable with something to push against.
Procera releases Red Dot by year, so each vintage reflects that season’s botanicals and blending. This is the 2023.
