Korenwijn is the richest tier of the genever family — the most malt-forward expression the Dutch tradition produces, and the closest thing in the category to a malt whisky. This one is named for Amsterdam’s most celebrated master, and made with craftsmanship intended to correspond.
It comes from distillery De Ooievaar, established in 1782 and among the last traditional genever houses in Amsterdam. Pure, natural raw materials and generations of undiluted expertise go into it. If you want to understand what genever was before gin simplified it, this is the bottle.
Serve with: nothing. Neat, in a tulip glass, at cellar temperature — and a beer alongside if you are doing it properly.
