Amsterdam gave genever to the world, and Mirakel van Amsterdam is a bottle built as a tribute to that. It is crafted at distillery De Ooievaar, established in 1782 and among the last traditional genever houses still standing in the city — which makes the tribute rather more than sentimental.
Everything is made from pure, natural raw materials, shaped by an intricate combination of fruits, flowers, plants, roots and seeds. That botanical complexity is what separates genever from the gin that descended from it, and it is very much on display here.
Serve with: nothing at all. Neat, in a tulip glass filled to the brim, at cellar temperature — with a beer alongside, as Amsterdam intends.

Genever originated in the Low Countries and Amsterdam was its commercial heart. English soldiers encountered it there in the seventeenth century, took the taste home, and gin followed.
Literally a “little head-butt”: a tulip glass of genever filled to the brim, taken with a beer chaser. You lean down to the first sip rather than lifting the glass.
It is gin’s ancestor, but maltier, rounder and more grain-driven. If you like whisky as well as gin, genever sits neatly between them.
