Malbec is a deep-coloured red grape with flavours of plum, blackberry and violet and soft, rounded tannins. It originally comes from Cahors in south-west France, where it is also called Côt, but it became world-famous in Mendoza, Argentina.
Malbec is a classic partner for steak, lamb, burgers and barbecue. Serve it slightly cooler than room temperature, around 16–18°C, to keep the fruit fresh (see what temperature to serve red wine).
