Château Teyssier is a Saint-Émilion estate with a heritage running back generations, making wines that show the plush, Merlot-led side of the Right Bank. The 2018 blends Merlot with Cabernet Franc, aged in oak barrels.
It is generous and easy to love: red and black fruit — cherry, blackberry, plum — over a velvety texture, with spice and oak kept in a supporting role. The tannins are well integrated and the finish smooth, which makes this a half bottle to open on an ordinary evening rather than save for an occasion.
Serve with: grilled ribeye, braised lamb, burgers, pizza, tomato-based pasta, roast chicken or aged Gouda.
