Château Laroque is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé estate, in the hands of the Beaumartin family since the 1930s. The vineyards cover 61 hectares on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, with only the finest 27 hectares selected for the grand vin.
The 2019 is a Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in oak barrels. It is full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a smooth mouthfeel — ripe dark fruit lifted by peppery spice and subtle florals like cornflower, with a touch of vanilla from the oak. The half bottle makes a serious classified Saint-Émilion an easy choice for a dinner for two.
Serve with: grilled steak, braised lamb, roast chicken or duck, mushroom risotto, or aged Gouda.
