Pentire takes its name and its ingredients from the north Cornwall headlands, where salt spray and thin soil produce plants with unusually concentrated flavour.

What does rock samphire actually taste like?
Green, resinous and faintly salty, with something carroty underneath — quite unlike the marsh samphire served alongside fish. It grows straight out of the cliffs, and it is what gives Adrift its distinctive savoury edge.
Is it sweet?
No, and that is the point of it. Most non-alcoholic drinks lean on sugar to fill the space alcohol leaves behind. Adrift goes the other way — dry, herbal and slightly saline, so it works as a genuine aperitif rather than a soft drink.
How should I store it?
Unopened it is fine in the cupboard. Once opened, keep it in the fridge and drink it within a few weeks — like any product without alcohol to preserve it, it is at its best fresh.
