Les Forts de Latour is the second wine of Château Latour, the Pauillac First Growth, and it is not a lesser thing so much as a different one: it comes primarily from dedicated plots outside the historic L’Enclos vineyard, including vines adjacent to Château Haut-Batailley. Those parcels are farmed and vinified with the same precision as the Grand Vin.
The 2019 is a classic Pauillac blend — 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot — aged in 70% new French oak. The estate has been certified organic since 2018, and this release reflects that commitment to sustainable viticulture. James Suckling awarded it 97 points, calling it “a jewel of a wine” with “tons of richness and structure”.
Serve with: grilled beef, lamb, venison, or mature hard cheddar. Drink 2026–2040 and beyond.

Not in the way the name suggests. Les Forts comes from its own dedicated plots rather than being simply the declassified barrels, and it is vinified to the same standard as the Grand Vin.
