Yoichi sits on the northern tip of Hokkaido, where the climate is cold, the air maritime and the conditions closer to the Scottish Highlands than anywhere else in Japan. Founder Masataka Taketsuru chose it deliberately. The whisky reflects its home — peated, coastal and uncompromising, with a character more rugged than anything from Miyagikyo.
