Gusbourne was founded at Appledore in Kent in 2004 with a single commitment: world-class quality from its own fruit. The estate now spans 90 hectares across Kent and Sussex, and this Blanc de Blancs is drawn exclusively from 100% Chardonnay grown on south-facing, low-altitude coastal vineyards — single-estate, own-fruit, no bought-in grapes.
2019 was an outstanding vintage here: balanced rainfall, successful flowering and a slow, cool ripening period through September and October produced complex, layered fruit with vibrant acidity. The wine was whole-bunch pressed and bottle-fermented, bottled in July 2020 and disgorged in April 2023 after three years on lees, at a moderate 7.5 g/l dosage and pH 2.96.
Serve with: seafood and shellfish, goat’s cheese or light poultry — or as an aperitif. Drink now through 2028.
