      The Wine

Founded in 1994 by the Chadwick family, Viñedo Chadwick sits in Puente Alto, the sub-region of Chile’s Maipo Valley that produces the country’s most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignon. The approach combines sustainable viticulture with Bordeaux-inspired winemaking, and the wines have built a reputation for elegance and finesse rather than sheer weight.

The 2015 is pure Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in French oak barrels. It opens with vibrant red fruit — cherry, raspberry, plum — deepening into blackcurrant and cassis, then cedar, tobacco and spice as it breathes. Full-bodied and structured, but the tannins have polished and softened with time, giving a smooth, approachable texture and a long, persistent finish.

      Questions

      Why does Puente Alto matter?

It is the Maipo Valley sub-region at the foot of the Andes responsible for Chile’s most acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon — alluvial soils and big day-to-night temperature swings give structure and freshness together.

Is a 2015 ready to drink?

Yes. The tannins have polished and softened, and the wine is drinking well now with a decant.

How long should I decant it?

An hour or so, served at 16–18°C.
